What gives maximum intake noise?
I already have an intake which sounds great on my d16y8 equipped EX (SI in Canada)
I was wondering what will furthermore improve the authentic howling intake noise.
What do I have to install, buy, or modify my engine? I don't have a muffler because im' so crazy about the intake growl especially in VTEC mode it's like a dream. Have any of you guys found anything to be done that enhances intake noise?

what are yall talking about, he never even said what year it was. must be a 96-98 ex. to answer your question, if you have a cold air intake swap to a short ram. thats about all, also, headers and a catback will help the motor breathe easier so the intake "growl" will be louder. the quieter the exhaust the more you will hear it though.

Re: (dontgivafuk)
Hey guys yes it's a 1996 civic SI in Canada. (USDM EX)
America Canada
SI SIR
EX SI
HX HX
DX DX
CX CX-R lol j/k it's still a CX
Alright back to the topic. Yes I do have a short-ram Intake. I was going to get a Cold-Air-Intake at first but didn't go for it because it produces less sound, and also did not like running the risk of running water and creating hydro-lock.
All I did to my motor was intake, NGK copper plugs, and frequent oil changes with Synthetic. I can go crazy changing this and that and breaking my wallet but I wanted to hear from you guys, and your experience what enhances the intake growl. Thanks to all you guys so far for your postings with help.

well for the maximum intake noise, wont get any better than ITBs! But you could also stick the filter directly on the intake manifold? I dont know if it'd melt the filter tho.

Re: What gives maximum intake noise? (SVOboy)
LOL yeah i forgot about that!! Now that i remeber i have seen a good amount also on d-series.
It has worked pretty good with older EF's etc. But particularly with the d16y8 If the intake air temp sensor is not plugeed in, or the pcv hose there will erratic idle problems, with the intake pipe off there is no place to stick the pcv hose or IAT.
Well you guys gave me some ideas, thanks alot.

Re: (iHOPEyouCHOKE)
lol lol, that's freakin ridiculous
I am just stickin' with my stock intake and not doing a thing, because there' pretty much nuthing decent enough to be done for more noise.
After doing some more research, I've found that b16's, and b18c's are loud scremers especially with CTR n' ITR cams.
if i had a b16 i'd swap the intake cam CTR, and exhaust cam with a ITR. But with d16y8 I don't think there would be as large difference.
