What is the expected mpg for a b16a2?
I have a stock b16a2 w/ gsr tranny swap in a ek hatch. I get probably 160-170 miles per full tank. Is that normal? My sohc was around 250-280. I know the b16 is a better motor but should it be that different? I tried searching but couldnt find anything.

160-170 is awful. I typically get around 260 or something close to what you got for your sohc.

Aww crap... could an ecu thats been chipped be the culprit? Im using a chipped out gsr ecu. Vtec engages at 5800 and redlines at 9k

Absolutely. Most "chipped" ECUs run fuel maps that are extremely rich.

Re:
My B18C with GSR tranny in an EJ8 gets about 270-310 miles to the tank, where I'm often driving it like I stole it. There's no reason other than your ECU as to why your 1.6 is sucking up twice as much gas, even if you're really driving it.

Honestly, 250-280 sucks for a d series too... I used to get 40mpg with my EJ8 w/ d16y8
Its probably the chipped ecu along with your driving habits.
No offense...

how old are your wires, plugs, and regular manitence parts? try changing your oil with engine restoration, reseting your chipped ecu, pour in some fuel cleaner into your fuel system. That should help some what, but mostly its becuz your chipped ecu, your making slightly more power so what do you expect haha...

If he's burning through that much gas and is running that rich, I HIGHLY doubt he's making more power. I'd be willing to bet that he's losing power on top of having to fill up twice as often.

Re: (grilledcheese33)
Wow no offense but gas mileage on both your cars seems pretty horrible. I think it might be time for a tune up. But honestly yea my sohc is making aboot 350 per tank, And my freinds 06 SI can barely push 300. So im making about 29MPG and he is 24 MPG somewhere around there. But any who yea im just saying you should be putting out at LEAST110 more miles in a tank.
Time for a Tune-Up.
Dude you have an 11 gallon tank this means you are getting 14.54- MPG
Dude thats worse than my dads 1967 camaro with the V8.

wOW 230-240 miles , i only manage about 180-200 with my 2000 civic si, stock ecu, it does'nt really matter how i drive , fast, slow, hard 200 miles max , i thats with the reserve light on for another 10miles b4 i fill up again ..!!
but then again i've been told it's over fueling slightly , how can i solve a over fueling problem ..!?!

I have a 92 cx with a 10 gallon tank. Chipped ecu.
Started off getting about 160 miles before empty and have since tuned it up to about 240 mile.
So from 16 mpg to 24 mpg by tuning myself on crome. 14.7 afr on idle and 14.5 roughly at cruising. WOT goes to 13's but I stay there alot.
I plan on running one chip for chilling and going for maximum mpg. the other for the track which is mainly where this car goes.
My DB8 gets 30 mpg mixed driving heavier on the highway side.
