Correct me if I`m wrong but, shouldn`t an EM1 have a B16? That looks more like a D16

D16 non vtec

Thats going off of the valve cover and the engine dimensions; Keep in mind, the 99-00 SI's came with B16A2's stock, not SOHC D's

**EDIT** There is no Vtec solenoid in those pics

Em1 should have a b16, that has a d16.

Not original engine.

Could be any d series, seeing as the vc's are interchangeable.

might be a y7 since the intake mani looks like it.

Interesting, if someone didn't know better they would be screwed with a D engine.

I doubt it is a Z, there is no vtec solenoid that you can see

Y7 with a VTEC valve cover. This car is apparently had an engine swap because the VIN says it is an EMI
1HGEM1158YL097129

Reading the description makes that pretty clear.
" For sale is a beautiful blue 2000 Honda Civic SI 2dr coupe. It has a 1.6L 4cyl SOHC VTEC engine and manual 5 speed transmission with 167967 miles (and counting). This is an actual Civic SI body with an OBD2a engine."

The dipstick is on the oil pump, so it is a d16y something.

It's. A. Y7.
At best it's a JDM non-VTEC D15b.

Looks like a either a D16Y7 with a Z6 valve cover or a Z6 with a Y7 intake manifold. Not the motor that is in the car stock. It should have a B16. Unless it is a Canada model their Si had a D16Y8. No 96-00 Civic D series had Vtec on the valve cover only the 92-95 D series Vtec motors did.
Only real way to tell is to have the seller take a pic of the engine ID that is stamped on the block.
I would not but this car. Way to pricey for what it is. Maybe $4500 with the B16 that was in it. Put it this way I would not sell my 98 Civic Coupe with LS Vtec swap and a bunch of other mods for anything less than $4500 and it needs some paint work. You can find clean swapped Honda's for $2500-$5000.

Oh love the riced out clear tail lights to. LOL

Who would do that to a Em1? Is that paint original? I haven't ever seen ebp paint flake like that either.

Depends on the D15 head. D15Z1, D15B SOHC VTEC, D16Z6, D16Y7, D16Y8, D16Y5 (possibly more but I'm just listing common or USDM valve covers) valve covers are all interchangeable. But yes as in the pic the D15B7/B8 valve covers don't interchange with the above.

Either the yard and trees are both immaculately and perfectly maintained AND the owner lets a strip of dead grass grow, or they enhanced the picture. That isn't how the paint will look in person.

$4800 for an EM1 with a Y7, and peeling paint on the hood? Someone's reaching for the stars...

Just to be pedantic about it: The Canadian 97-00 Acura EL (effectively a glorified Civic) DID have "VTEC" on its v.c. ... but regardless it doesn't look like the v.c. in the pic (EL v.c. says "1.6 VTEC").

The funny thing is that with a Frankenstein like that, it could be any number of engines in that car, but without seeing the engine stamp it's just too hard to say...

Try to get more info from whoever has the vehicle, if they even know themselves...

No Canada has a 99-00 Si model but here in the states it is a Ex. The Acura EL is a different car, yes it is a Civic with some changes but Canada also has Civic's.
