how much money do you have? what kind of power are you looking to make? You could just get a B18C1 block and use the B16A2 head, which would probably be the best engine you can make while using the parts you have. it'll make solid power and you'll have fun with it. But again, how much money do you have?

i don't see this happening for 1000. save your money and do it right. when i do a motor swap, i replace every single gasket, all belts, hoses, timing belt/h20 pump, etc. all that adds up. you don't know how long those gaskets have been sitting dry. they're probably bad. are you gonna do the work yourself? that'll also save you more money than anything. nothing wrong with not having a high paying job. you just need to save a little more money and build something reliable, not necessarily fast and super strong. I know a few students who did this. Just a matter of stacking your chips.

b18c block with the b16 head IS probably your best bet for your situation...but you'll probably have some trouble finding a b18c block for a thousand bucks...not to mention all the extra parts you'll need for the swap. What engine is in the hatch right now?
