full coverage insurance and smart decisions are the best protections against theft. then when/if thieves strike, you're atleast made partially whole again

One thing that no one mentioned is that if you take your eu out every damn day that the connections and wires are going to degrade over time. Those plugs aren't meant to be constantly used and wiring is not meant to be moved around like that all the time.

What happens if the thief has made friends with fear as well? They'd have your car, your cougar (I named mine Shelly), and you'd be doneski!

I used to pull my motor every night and lock it up, then I started using the ECU removing method cause it was a pain in the *** and I wasted a lot of fluid swapping every day.

In life there are only two things to worry about.

Either you are well or you are sick.

If you are well, then there is nothing to worry about.

But if you are sick, there are only two things to worry about.

Either you will get well or you will die.

If you get well, there is nothing to worry about.

If you die, there are only two things to worry about.

Either you will go to heaven or hell.

If you go to heaven there is nothing to worry about.

But if you go to hell, you'll be so damn busy shaking hands with friends you wouldn't have time to worry!

Agreed SpecialBrownie, that's just insane.

You might as well just get rid of the car if that was necessary.

I'm not going to say alot of them...but a good but of thieves either work at shops or have tons of honda parts lying around...similar to alot of enthusiasts...a spare ECU isn't something out of the ordinary...conversion harnesses are very common...so your car might get jacked using an ecu off a stolen car...shitty how the cycle works out eh?

How about rigging a gun along with a motion sensors on the seat, and remote sensors that will send of flashing lights in your room once other wires are cut or the alarm goes off....

and once all this happens you'll b able to wake up and control the gun via cell phone, shoot the motha ***cker in the *** so he cant run away, and finish him off.

Sorry I'm just in an immature mood rite now.

Lol...just have the Terminator sleep in your car.

This would only stop the wanna be thiefs / joy riders. But id say 99% for the career thiefs will and do carry spare ecus around, just for this very reason!

Yeah...I think someone mentioned above...doesn't have to be the exact ecu...it may ride like **** if it isn't...but they will still get it home...or at least far enough away to manage other arrangements

and like ej6kid said...your contact points would crap out after awhile...maybe bend some pins...who knows...there's a million other what seem to be more efficient ways of making it harder for thieves. If you do something...take a little time on it though so it doesn't create problems later...there was somebody a couple days ago who was having engine problems and figured out it was due to a killswitch the prior owner installed...really janky lookin' job too.

Best way to not get your car stolen is to hire an expert armed guard for round the clock surveillance.

Seems a tad long wind'd to me, why not just remove a wheel then it can't be towed either.

Yep. Same thing happens to radio face plates.

Can't drive without the ECU.

Can't drive without a fuel pump, battery, starter, etc.

Several well placed kill switches will do you a lot better.

This makes no sense. The whole reason faceplates are removeable is to deter would be thieves.

Why doesn't it make sense for the connectors on radio faceplates to be subject to wear and tear from daily removal?

What does it have to do with thieves?

I know what you mean ek. I had a jvc deck that did it over time...and you had to wiggle the faceplate to get certain buttons to work lol

The thieves have nothing to do with connections wearing down special brownie

^I said nothing about them being the reason connectors wear down.

What I meant was that, even though an ECU isn't made to be removable due to thieves, a face plate is. I guess you couldn't get that from my original statement. Apologies.
