What could this dangling hose be?

What could this dangling hose be?
Hi, my name is Chris. I am new to this site and Honda cars in general.
I recently bought my first Honda a few days ago, a 92 civic VX hatch.
I am a novice when it comes to cars, but I would ike to change that. I want to learn all as much as I can about Hondas.
So I was looking underneath my car earlier and I noticed this small hose that was dangling near the steering rack. Could someone possibly help me identify what this is? Please see the attached picture..
Also, when I'm in first gear, the car starts making a loud rattling noise at about 3k rpms. The noise seems to go away if I accelerate quickly. What might this be?
Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Jack the car up and get some better pics. That will help us to help you. You may even figure out what is going on yourself. Also, give us more info on the "rattle". The more info the better. It's hard enough as it is to diagnose over the net, much less with such a small amount of info on the situation. Welcome though.

Judging by location, I'd guess that is the hose that connects to the steering boot. It allows the boot to vent so it does not balloon or collapse when the boot is extended or compressed.

Yeah, more info on rattle if you can. If your catalytic converter still has the metal heat shields on it, they are known to get loose or bent and rattle..usually kind of a rattle/harmonic sound at various RPM ranges. Annoying for sure.
Welcome to the Honda scene. Read up on security so you don't or have attempted not to become a victim of theft. Good luck with your car, you have a nice platform to work with.

Thanks a lot guys! Sorry about the pics and the lack of info on the rattle.
I'm about to go to my buddy's house, he has a jack. I'll let you guys know what the hose was as soon as I get back!
The previous owner told me that he believes the rattle is from the catalytic converter possibly being clogged. I have had other people tell me that it could be the heat shield, so I'm going to ceck both.
Thanks a lot guys!
Oh and a little info on my car... its a VTEC that is pretty much stock except for the full magnaflow exaust, ground control coil overs, carbon fiber cold air intake, Black leather Acura seats, various JDM interior parts, and 3 swaybars.

Re: What could this dangling hose be?
Here you go. I had an engine compartment pic where the hose is actually off on one side but not the other. I went into paint and marked and identified the spots for you so you can figure out where it goes easier:

OP, Nice EG Hatch, Clean. Keep it that way and PLEASE..PLEASE invest in security..or you might as well start saving for your next car when you walk out and find this gone. I harp on security ALOT but its becasue its so important. I had mine stolen when I first got into the Honda scene 7 years or so ago, At the time I didn't know Honda theft was so bad. Do the alarm install yourself as well, the generic install(best buy, etc)are no good and you might as well leave your doors unlocked.
Don't let yours get stolen and learn the hardway like I(and many others)did.

OK? OP's car has steering rack. Steering rack has boots on the end... The vent tubes have nothing to do with power steering....

Re: What could this dangling hose be?
oh it looks to be a pressure regulation hose for the boots so the boots dont swell up when they are compressed it pushes all the air to the other boot as the car steers either that or its the EGR line going to the charcoal filter that sits below the fuel pump

Huh? I believe you mean the charcoal filter sits below the fuel FILTER. Fuel pump is in back under back seat.

Re: What could this dangling hose be?
Thanks for replying everyone!
This is kind of embarrassing, but the hose was just the one leading the the windshield wiper reservoir, I replaced the hose and got some new sprayers =]
Thankfully is wasn't anything serious
The came with an alarm system...I just have to program the remote...
Also, the pics I put in the post were the pics that the owner sent me (except for the ones underneath the car) when I was thinking about buying the car. The car pretty much looks the same except it has stock Acura hubcaps.
I will take some new pics including under the hood, interior,etc...
Now for he exhaust...Tbh man I really don't know very much about cars just yet, but I was told that it has Magna Flow exhaust. I just assumed is was a "full exhaust" -_-
