what is adjusted when cars go down elevation?
Hey all, just a weird thing that happens
I go to school out in colorado, about 6500 feet. when i come back home to MN, (just above sea level), my car always feels super fast for the first few days. THen I am guessing something happens, IE fuel or timing is adjusted by the ECU, and eventually it feels slower.
WHat exactly does the ECU adjust when I am at sea level for a while?
Just curious.... because possibly adjusting that the other direction while i'm home could net me some performance.... like this is actually a really noticable thing.
any ideas?

but more than that, what exactly does the ECU do to adjust for this, and how long does this complete change usually take?

the air is denser here, and the car can tell that, hence, why it can adjust it self and create a little more power

naw, i'm saying right after i get here i have nice power for like a day, then it seems to slowly settle into less power. like within a day or two... so it doesnt run as good as when i FIRST get here..... thats what i'm saying...

the ecu re learns itself and adjusts for more/less are with proper ignition/fuel maps.
But for the first however long it takes, it can run better.

Also it's probably a "feel" type thing. Your in school for a while out there in CO, then you come back home and you get a lot more of that O2 stuff pumpin into your engine, gonna feel faster. Kinda like bein on the west coast for months, then flyin to the east coast... those first few nights yer not gonna get much sleep because 1am is gonna feel like 10pm.
