Default Went to the track for the 1st time today. Quite disappointed at myself

Setup:
94 Civic VX
JDM B16A with LSD trans
SR ebay intake
Magnaflow catback with magnaflow cat "high flow"
Exedy Stage 1 Organic clutch w/8lbs Exedy Flywheel
P06 chipped with GSR program
B&M FPR
Skunk2 short shifter w/Energy shifter bushings
00 Si wheels w/ Toyo Proxes 4 (about 8k miles give or take)
full interior + stock stereo + spare tire

The best of 3 runs:
R/T - .613
60' - 2.465
330 - 6.589
1/8 - 9.980
MPH - 72.90
1000 - 12.864
1/4 - 15.329
MPH - 91.11

i dunno, i was pretty disappointed. I mean I wasn't expecting 12s but I really wanted to break into 14.9 at least. Is this time normal or do i need to work on my launching?

Work on your launches.... and dont take any offence to this... but are you a heavy guy (fat/chubby) b16's really make no torque at all... so if your a big guy that thing isnt gonna scream like you hoped.

Overall your time isnt horrible. YOur 60 could use some work for sure...what rpm were you shifting at? Oh yeah and what rpm did you launch at?

Getting into the mid 14's shouldnt be an issue. I know everyone wants to run awesome times the first time out but that only comes with seat time.

that is pretty slow i think..
i had a 95 LS wit i/h/e (this was like 5 years ago) and I ran 15.27 @ 92.8 mph
but of course that was done with no rear and passenger seats..
you should be able to hit high 14's IMO.
i've seen a lot of HB wit b16 at the track running 14.8 and 14.9
launching technique is what you need to work on

did u get good traction launching at 3300rpm??
i normally do around 2000~2500.
i never got traction launching over 3000.

I re-read and I see you have an 8lb flywheel....

you might want to launch a lil higher.....Im not for certain but it would seem launching it at 3300rpms might be still slightly bogging the motor after the tires grab. Try it a lil higher next time.

I know a guy in town who had a 93 VX with a JDM gsr swap and he would half to launch at like 4300 or so to get it not to bog at all. I think his flywheel was 7lbs.

Your LS had alot more torque than a b16.

with my itr swap and azenis I launched at 6200 rpm. BTW revving that engine to 8k rpm is way to high. Typically your stock tach is gonna read a little lower than your actual rpm...so you may have been a little over 8k. I would shift around 7600rpm.

haha thats what I thought once I got the feel down. With my swap I would almost leave the line in vtec. Ive raced many a car in my years but learning the tricky 4cyl power was well, tricky.

Exactly you want those tires to spin slightly before grabbin....... if they dont especially with Azenis the engine will bogg and then in return give you a shitty time.

yeah thats the thing, plus he has a light weight flywheel. Keep the rpms up but dont spin off the rubber, get the feel of when the tires grip and smoothly but quickly let the clutch out the rest of the way.

This is a critical time in a drag race any quick jerky foot movements will effect how well and fast you get traction down to the ground. WARNING horrible analogy coming.

Take a short glass of water fill it a half inch from the top. Start at a standstill and move the glass forward as fast as possible...the water will become upset and spill out, thats bad. If you continue this manuvuer a few times you will slowly have less and less water spill out. Same kinda thing with your engine. If your not smooth theres a weight transfer problem and grip issues that are gonna happen.

HAHA I think Im to tired to hand out advice tonight....

As everyone has already said, just work on bring your 60' down, and practice your launches...

You can bring that 60' down to a 2.1 or 2.2 with that lsd

Not bad for your first pass really. A little more seat time and you'll hit 14's

Your vtec is at 4400 rpms a little low. That could be a problem and your 60ft.

Agreed. Why is your computer chipped to GSR specs? I would bump that vtec engagement up to 5600 rpm.

I launch my car @ 7000 rpms with BFG's. Your time seems a little slow to me. A buddy of mine ran a stock b16a in a stripped CX to a 14.20, but he was running on azenis at the time I believe.

Seriously what everyone has already suggested.... launch it higher.... you have a light weight flywheel..... its lighter which makes the engine rev faster, but the downside is if its not launched at a high enough rpm it can bog the motor.

It may not even seem like it to you but it probably is. Just try launching higher and then come back.
