Default weigh ins (searched and sounds a lil weird)

Well according to this sticky...

a 93 Honda Civic DX hatch (MT) weighs in at 2178 lbs (which for me is believable)

now this is where im a lil confused,

93 Honda Civic DX coupe (MT) weighs in at only 2224 lbs...thats ALOT LESS then I had thought is would be. Is this correct or a typo?

Reason why I ask is I wanted to start my project soon (coupe) and was giving a hatch a serious thought since I thought weight diff. would be a couple hundred. I like the look of a coupe a little bit more so this is good news for me IF it is correct!

Now ive heard that a rule of thumb is whenever the weight is reduced by a 100lbs the car would be a .1 secs faster in a 1/4. Is this correct?

Also one more question (sorry :D) I searched for a DX weight reduction and it seems that no one has posted one before. If the trunk was completly stripped, new seats, take out rear seats, rip out carpet+ sound shiz+ CF hood AND trunk what could I be saving on weight?

I know this is a long post with lots of Q's. Thnx for the input

bump

ok I searched deep in the archives and a guy with an eg took out 114lbs from the interior. so with CF hood and trunk and lighter seats I would be around 150 pounds lightly stripped?

dude, to make stripping the interior worth while you will need to remove the interior completely. just halfassing it and removing rear seats and carpet and sound deadening will not really do that much but when you start removing dash, all plastics, stereo, headliner, any and all stuff not needed to help you go from point a to b, then you will be saving some weight.

Its 200 pounds saves you 0.1 secs on your quarter mile. The diff. between coupe an hatch sounds about right. I have a 94 DX hatch myself. When I went to the drags I used to take the back seats, and the sub box out, and it actually helped me run about .2-.3 better. I think the it had more to do with the weight being all on the back which promoted weight transfer off the front wheel causing loss of traction.
