I want to pick up a nice digital camera, but I'd like to see what people are using and the resolution of the pictures that they've taken with it.

1024x768 2.1mp Sony Cybershot dsc-p50 (Natural Daylight)
1024x768 same camera (Flash at night)
IMO its a good camera for 400 bucks. Ive only bought the travel kit for it (battery, charger, case) and a 16mb memory stick, so i have 20mb total storage (comes with a 4mb stick) which was good about about 40-50 1024x768 pics total.

I have a Cannon Power Shot S100 Digital Elph, and an older Sony Mavica MVC-FD81. I usually take the Elph to shows and what not because its so small and not as big of a hassle. But in all honesty the Sony takes alot better picture. If your looking to get a camera that will give you the nicest results, and your not afraid to spend an extra buck or two, I'd say go with an Olympus or Sony.

Yeah, I was trying to decide betweeb 2.1 or something a little higher. It looks like 2.1 is fine for what I'm doing.
I was looking at the Olympus D510. It looks like a solid unit.

That is a tight azz ride... it seems the olympus has more features and a better warranty than the sony but both look awesome.

I have an Olympus C-3000Z 3.3MP. Goto http://www.velascoracing.com to see pictures it has taken (all on full auto mode by the way)
I love olympus cameras because they take great pictures and USE AA batteries. This means that extra batteries are easy to get and CHEAP. I picked up a few sets of 1600mah NImH aa cells for $14-15 a set. Each set lasts about 250-300 Shots!!!
Most other cameras use proprietary batteries that can be hard to get, and cost 40 or more, and dont last nearly as long as a $15 set of high capacity AA's.
Also, I always take photos in a resolution larger then I need, and then crop and compress them with photoshop, which has better compression algorithms then most digi cams. Plus I end up with a format large enough to print, and can make them any size I want later. Each of my files end up about 700K on the memory card.

Fuji
FujiFilm 2400Z (640x480 2.4 Mega Pixel)
FujiFilm MX-600Zoom (640x480 1.5 Mega Pixel)
the MX600 I got only for $150, so it was well worth the money...the 2400 is cool but overpriced

Re: Fuji (SIINSI)
Carl, I'll take a few nice ones tomorrow and post them. Mines a 2.1MP...it really is enough, unless you were gonna do a whole lot of printing.
Tonyxcom...I don't think having a camera that takes AA batteries is a plus. Proprietary are more money of course...but just about every camera comes with a battery. At most, a spare might come in handy, but 1 battery is plenty for most people. Plus you can just charge them up at night and never have to worry about replacing them when they die.

Got the Olymups 510. Got it for $300...it's 2.1 megapixels and has 3X optical zoom. Very good camera for the money. There are a ton of options with this camera (most of which I don't even know about). I definitely recommend it.

Never have to worry about replacing it when they die? I don't get that part. Sure, some people can get away with only one battery. But most cameras can't make it through 128mb of shots.
But, even if you only need 1 battery, if your proprietary battery stops holding a charge, which will be quick if you charge it every few days, it will cost a lot to replace. Not only do my AAs last for more then 250 shots per set, they only cost 15 bux and I don't have to turn the LCD off to save juice. And when they die, I dont have to wait for them to charge overnight. I can just pull out the other 15 dollar set and I am good for another 250+ shots. That is my point. That is the advantage.
If you only take a few pictures at a time, then you probably dont even need a nice camera. Anything over 1mp will be fine.

Canon Powershot S110...digital elph baby, may not take the best quality pics compared to an expensive sony or olympus, but it does have a 30 second video record mode with sound...perfect for getting races, roommate shotgunning beers, girlfriend giving head did i mention its the size of a credit card? 1600x1200 resolution, enough for me.

Damn, you got a nice digi cam. The Cybershot models from Sony are badass. I'm planning to get the Sony DSC-P3 2.8 megapixel. I was gonna get the DSC-P5, but an extra $100 for +0.4 megapixel isn't worth it.
