i sanded them with 2000 grid sand paper, bought a cheap can of clear coat, sprayed it on super heavy, wet sanded them again, then buffed them out with meguiars wax and a buffer.

They have been doing this to 88-93 mustangs for years.
Just use different grits of polishing compound and a nice wax coat...

yep, i can attest to this.. Ive done it on several fords (used to detail cars for a living).
you have to re-aply every couple of months, but it works. Ive been told toothpaste works as well, but havent tried it.

Headlights look good, but the secret has been out "at least" a year. Good work though.

Re: Want to know how to get your headlights to look brand new??? (INVALID)
I did the same with my clear cover for my gauge cluster. I wet sanded the clear cover with like 3000 wet sand. Then I ran my buffer on a low setting like 2000 rpm or something. Pushed the button to keep it spinng w/out touching the trigger. Set the buffer on it's back so the wheel is up. Used some 3m compound I forget what it was, I use it at work. Anyway got ALL the scratches out and had the cover shining like new. --- Bad side I broke my first cover , it got caught by the buffer and flew out my hands. But if you take your time and do things right also knowing how to operate a buffer like a pro, u should b ok. SRY for the gigantic paragraph.

Yay spraypaint on your JDM headlights,
Rubbing alcohol, polish, simple green, or good old elbow grease did the same thing to mine... and I dont have to worry about a clear coat chipping on the highway...

well koala, you do realize that the original finish on the jdm head lights are clear coated, so all he did wasre=spray and got rid of the old in with the new. So either way it will chip soon or later... i think i wrote those sentences right...
