Default VX/SI gauge cluster swap?

The cluster from my 95 VX 3 door was stolen. I've found several used
clusters from SI models (which also have the tach). Would this be a
simple plug/play swap or are there issues or incompatibilities between
the two?

thx for any help you can offer
Duncan

You mean all civic gauges are plug and play right?

You are better off with the ex/si cluster than the vx cluster since the ex/si has a higher redline. The redline on my vx cluster is only 8000 rpm i think and the ex/si is 9000 rpm. I'm not 100% sure though.

I believe mine is near 7200 rpm, but I am at work currently and could be mistaken.

Did you read the posts above yours?
Any 1992-1995 civic guage clusters are "plug
and paly" If your stock cluster has a shift light,
and if you replace it with a higher model cluster
that was equiped with cruse controll, then the
cruise controll light will light up like your shift light
did.

Haha! That's what my cluster does!

thanks for the replies. one clarification: would clusters from the 2/4 door
civics be swappable into the hatchbacks?

Also is there a standard name for the "trim" that goes around the cluster?
My car was vandalized and I have to replace all of it, the air vent mouldings,
the part with the pushbutton 4-way flasher, etc.

Yeah but I'm not an expert, I didn't know if the poster was only
referring to hatchbacks or if this included sedans. So now I
assume it does, based on your reply.

Also one guy at a junkyard told me the cluster from an automatic
wouldn't work in a manual. Is this true? I don't know what would
be different.

That's why I'm here, because I need answers, and I appreciate the help.
