do you have EGR control? the SI is missing lots of wires compared to the VX. The VX has an EGR and wideband o2, the SI has a standard heated o2 sensor. if you are using the SI ecu, you can not control the EGR and that is most likely making your car run rough. if you are using the VX ECU and did not add the wires, you have no o2 reading and no EGR control...

Re: (SVOboy)
you should notice that you have an extra plug from your vx engine harness that has 8 pins i think. this plug contains the o2 and egr wires. you need to run all those wires to the ecu. use your helms and determine the pinout.

exactly what i was about to say... how did you not notice that extra plug while plugging up the other 3 plugs on that side of the motor??

Re: (neutron91)
my computer already has all the wires going into it though...there are no empty spots...so i guess i would have to splice into it....now would it be easier to get a harness from a vx that connects the engine harness to the ecu? i see the other plug that is not plugged in. i think it is easier...just harder to find in the junkyard. would that solve my problems if i do that??

Re: (b16gurl)
all vx's from 92-95 have 4 plugs on the passenger side shock tower... as stated before this plug contains the wiring for the o2 and egr... the easiest and cleanest way i can think of to do this in your case would be to get a plug that will plug into the extra plug on the vx harness then run and repin those wires to the ecu side... this way it will look stock and you wont have some ghetto wires all throughout the engine bay... pick up a helms... it has all the wiring diagrams you will need

vx comes with a 5 wire o2 harness is most cases, its for the wideband o2 sensor.

no, you should have an extra plug from your engine that had nothing to plug into on your car. only the vx had the extra plug for the wideband and egr control. helms is the publisher of the real HONDA service manual.

there is nothing to plug into...that is the problem. you are going to need to make your own connector and run it into the passenger compartment to connect to your ECU. order your helms manual from helminc.com

cheap may not be the best, the best will not be cheap. are you doing this swap on your own?? your civic is an SI right? why not just put a replacement back in there for cost and simplicity? they are cheap and always available.

Re: (b16gurl)
a d series motor regardless of origin unless assembled for race or sport use will not be amazing in any way. 800CDN is a fair price for what you are listing if the unit is in good condition. if you want power, you might as well just save your money and get a B , H, or K setup in the car. another thing, don't waste your money to prove the car has power. its not how much, but how its used.

Re: (littleredcivic)
i just got the harness out of a vx....i cut it under the dash ...using the helms it should wire up correct?? honestly..i am now thinking it is easier to just throw in an si motor than chop the harness and connect everything back up withthe vx harness.
