Vtec and Turbo
I kno its possible to run a vtec with a turbo at low psi... but at 20 psi.... a built bottom end... would the vtec still be overkill on the engine due to boost spike?

I have VTEC, and I have a turbo. I don't think it is overkill, that is why there are custom cams meant especially for turbo VTEC engines.
BTW, you said you are going to be running 20psi? I hope you have an idea of what you are getting yourself into.

Alot of headaches.
I have a 2.26L B-series and I'm making right around 620whp on 21psi and let me tell you, there are a whole lot of stupid things that go wrong when you start getting to this point in hp.

Lots of money, long hours, and knowing what parts will work and won't. I was going to boost 15-18 pound on a FULLY built SOHC. 20 psi is A LOT of boost.

Re: (VTEC-IKE)
Is this your daily driver? Most people don't run nearly that much boost on daily driven cars, because like others said, there are always things that you have to worry about. Do you realize how much power 21 pounds of boost will put down??? I'm only running 7psi with an SC61 on my B16 and have traction issues, think about what your daily driven car on street tires would be like.

First figure out a realistic HP goal.
Then do some research on what turbo will be good for that goal.
Look into a few brands of rods and pistons that will meet or exceed your HP goals.
Find out what kind of EMS you want to use. I'm personally using Uberdata.

But ive been gettin info about turbo gsr's... originally i was gonna do a gsr block type r head i realized that was pointless, then i was gonna go full gsr n then a friend of mine told me about running turbo with vtec and how it would be overkill on the engine once it kicks in... but now im realizing he was prolly talkin about high psi's, ill be running about 15-18 if i get the gsr

Re: (20psib18b1)
I suggest you stay away from using the VAFC hack no matter what. Get a chipped ecu and have it tuned with crome or uberdata. Running a VAFC at 15 pounds is still not a good idea. Crome and uberdata can tune both your fuel map and ignition timing. So I say go with one of those two.
