Icon2 Vtec switch

I just joined and am searching for some help. I recently got into the honda scene and looking to learn more about the motors and how the VTEC works. I bought a '92 hatchback with a D15B8 a year ago and have since done a motor swap for a JDM D15B VTEC for added power and speed. I bought a p72 ECU and had a friend run the wires from the solenoid to the wire harness but I don't believe that the VTEC is engaging. How would I tell and how could I wire my VTEC to a switch? I remembering hearing from one of my friends that his buddy had a toggle switch and could engage the VTEC whenever he wanted and I was interested in doing that. Any help is appreciated. Thanx.

As far as wiring it to a switch, I've never heard of such a thing.

You can wire in a vtec light, vtec engagment on a SOHC is quiet, you wont feel any rediculous pull, just a slight change in the sound of the engine at around 5000RPM, however, the ECU you have is for a GS-R, it should be chipped and tuned for your application.

Don't, this an old school hack before people knew better. If you wire Vtec to a switch, the high lift cam profile will engage and vtec will sound like its working, however without the changes in fuel and timing maps the vtec ECU provides the engine will not make any more power, if anything it will loose power.

you could pick up a p28 for cheaper than chiping your p72.
As for the vtec button, lol.
