Default Vtec soleniod leaking

so i took my car into the stealaship to locate the source of my oil leak. They have told me that it is coming from my soleniod, and then quoted me for a new soleniod itself, for the low price of 300 bucks. My question is should i attempt to replace the oring and filter my self before going ahead and getting a whole new soleniod? any one know how much the coleniods generally run not from the dealership?

Change the o rings. Makes more sense than buying a 300$ part just for the o rings.

I think for the two gaskets it cost me around $30 or so and took me 15 minutes at the most to replace both of them.

You can hit up ebay for a used one and it usually runs you about $70 or so.

Im not sure if they are the same... here try this website and compare the 93-95 EX (EJ1) to the 99-00 SI (EM1)

I know D and B series VTEC solenoids are interchangable, the gaskets should sure as hell be the same , also check to see if the dizzy o-ring is leaking

Not the same, I thought they were but found out the hard way. Let's say in terms of civic VTEC solenoids, the 92-95 version differs from the 96-00 version. I'll see if I can take some pics tomorrow.

Side note: I have a first gen B16A head and a B18C1 head (99 I believe) and the 92-95 Solenoid fit both.

I have a spare $13.00 o-ring here just in case I needed it.

Change it yourself, it's a piece of cake.

haha... dude u spelled solenoid like 9 different ways haha....

#1. Yes its a peice of cake job.

#2. Yes all obd1-2 civic vtec solenoids are interchangeable, take for example a Z6 and B16A... They dont look the same but do both infact work on same applications... The pressure switch is just in a different spot that's all..

#3. You can most likely get a vtec solenoid from the junk yard for like 10-15 bucks if you can manage to take out all 2 or 3 bolts yourself lol..

#4. YOU CAN DO IT..!!

The cam seal is back in that area too and its pretty notorious for leaking, check that if you do have a B series in there
