Default vtec question on b16/b18

hey guys im soon to b swapping my ex 98 ek civic. jus wondering iv been researching alot around the threads and hearing alot of all this stuff on the vtec engaging at certain rpm on diff engines. from wut im reading im seeing that b4 the vtec engages on any of the b series motors that i would swap in (e.i. b16/b18c1/b18c5) it jus basically feels like a SOHC till it kicks in at a certain rpm. jus wunderin if some one could clear it up for me and tell me which engines vtec's kick in at what rpms. appreciate it mcuh

A B16 will feel like a SOHC, a B18 won't.

B16A2 = 5500 rpms
B18C1 = 4400 rpms
B18C5 = 5500 rpms

Well, you'll hear the crossover and you won't feel the torque ( ) drop.

stock b16 should pull a lot harder than stock SOHC..even if you put I/H/E

True it's the gearing, but both don't really have torque.

B16B = no torque still (for the money, it's not worth it)
