its not like VTEC is a turbo... you arent going to feel a huge boost in power...

plus the B16 isnt exactly a torque monster

Info like whether or not vtec hit harder in the past would be helpful.. Could be a filthy solenoid filter? Last time you changed your oil?

ive seen numerous times people putting in like nitrous cams becasue they think there better then stock, or people messing with the cams and screwing up an orifice valve or the o-ring around the center orifice

I have taken the liberty of underlining what the problem is.

Factory engines are not made to be beat on, sure they can take abuse, but then **** breaks. I think you may be having some piston ring issues come up soon.
try to follow:
Beat on engine=bad rings=lower compression=less power=you crying about why your vtec isn't engaging like it should, when thats probably not the real issue.

If you vtec is engaging like you said it was then thats not your problem. The engine isn't able to turn the extra fuel and air from the larger vtec cam profiles into power. But I could be wrong, maybe you just need some jdm vtec fluid.

i thought of that one already... the car doesn't smoke... the motor was re-built about 30,000 miles ago... and i also ran a compression check... there was no more than a 15 point difference in any of the cylinders... the compression was still good... all the parts came straight from honda... even if that is the case they will all be replaced soon... i just bought an ls bottom end that has already been sleeved from a buddy of mine... im going to start building it soon... and i also have a gsr head with skunk2 cams in it... which im going to build the head also... then run some type of forced induction while still keeping power steering and a/c... any advice on how i can do that would be great too.... or opinions on what parts i should use during the build would be appreciated also...

Even if the engine was rebuilt not to long ago, it is possible for the rings not to have seated correctly, a compression test will work if your trying to show off the car to someone who wants to buy it. You need to do a leakdown test to be sure. Since your already building an engine I would say why even f with the b16.

If you want to keep a/c and power steering the only thing you really have to worry about is the manifold and compressor size. I don't think you can go wrong with a good ramhorn manifold and a t3/t4. Don't buy knockoffs!!!!!! spend the money and do it right. g/l & keep us posted on the build.
