what valve are you referring to? is your engine a d16y8? if so vtec engages at 5,600 or 5,700 rpm i do believe on a stock ecu............

IN A Y8 YOU CAN'T REALLY FEEL THE KICK LIKE A B-SERIES

seriously everytime someone refers to their vtec "kick" it makes me want to bludgeon an infant.

you do not have a light for vtec, sounds like your high beam light is on

and yes its true that you won't really feel vtec engage like you would on a b-series. on a d-series its a much smoother transition, not to mention i believe vtec on a sohc head only affects the intake cam, not the exhaust cam as well like on a b engine.

I don't know if you were referring to me. I never said it kicks in harder then a b series, I said it kicks in at 5200 rpms I have a boosted B series. So I know the difference between D and B. I'm not trying to be a dick I am just saying. Also it probably is his high beam light.

dood ur an idiot!!! sohc has 1 camshaft so how could it only affect only the intake cam if both intake and exhaust are 1??? second of all vtec has to do with valve overlap, lift and duration... you can certainly hear vtec on a single cam.. very easily too... start from a dead stop get up to like 40 mph and drop that bitch in 2nd and youll hear vtec EVERY time..... third of all.......... its not his high beams .... they are called DRL or daytime running lights... and lastly you can install this little blue led on the middle of the steering column upper cover to let you know when vtec is engaging.. ive seen them on integras, civics and preludes...... just another aftermarket product!!

it is gay to install a light to show you that your vtec is engaging.

I think you might want to take another look at how vtec works before you start telling people they're an idiot. SOHC Vtec does only fuction on the intake side. The cam has two sets of lobes on the intake side and and there are two sets of rocker arms on the intake side.

I think he may want to figure out how an engine works while he's at it.

Prvious owner put that in there. Its not the first time i've heard of it, as a matter of fact someone made up some pretty neat stencils in flash that you could print out, it uses one of the blank spaces in the cluster and looks stock.
