Try resetting the ECU first to see if the light comes back. If it does, check it to make sure it is the same code, you might have to replace the valve if it is. Sometimes, in the Prelude, I got weird VTEC codes that only happened once or twice. It seems like after I boosted it, those codes stopped happening and I just got ATTS codes.

ahh ok.
well I may just add...
after I turned off the car for like 20 minutes and drove back, the light never came back on...I even took it to vtec engagement rpm and it seemed fine...
should I be worried?

That would depend on your modifications. If you have none, there might be a problem. If you have things like an intake and exhaust, I wouldn't worry about it too much. The cars are designed to run on factory parts. When you change things like the way the engine breathes, it'll sometimes throw a code at you.

well....according to other peeps, my car isn't very "stock"
it used to be a d16y8 obd2 automatic, and got converted to obd1 + 5speed swap + B16A3 swap + T3/T4 .50 trim turbo + 2.5" full exhaust + intercooler + charge pipes + 440cc injectors + 7psi.
Should I still be worried?

Ok, so it's not exactly stock. I wouldn't worry about it at all unless the same code keeps coming back. If you didn't reset your ECU, the code will still be stored until it is removed. If you get another check engine light and check it, that one will still be there, I would still clear it to make sure it's not the same one next time.

Im guessing you swapped a jdm motor in? and if so you need to splice the vtec pressure valve with the vtec solinoid wire from the ecu

oh...
i've had this swap in for about 3 months already, and it threw the code today...then it went away after i started it back up.
thanks though!

Yea, the code will only come on when you are in vtec for a certain amount of time. Its because the USDM ecu is looking for the vtec pressure valve that isnt even on the JDM motor therefore throwing a code. You can turn the car off and back on and it will go away, but it will not solve the problem.
