VTEC not working. Redlines @ 6500 now
Need help.
Got a 97 civic dx
b16a2 swap (stock)
97 gsr ecu 0bd2a
Car has run strong and fine for 2 years. VTEC kicks in @ 4500 and Redlines 8200
Recently, VTEC won't enguage and car redlines @ 6500 (jerks like its governed)
I have checked all wiring, oil and have run VTEC direct with a switch and it does work, but still redlines at 6500
I don't think it is a speed sensor or oil pressure switch but who knows
Could it be the ecu.....since it redlines like a non vtec now?

Oil is perfect.
Check engine light has been on forever cuz of o2 sensor ( has 2000 Si swap)
How do you reset the ecu???

i normally just pull out the battery fuse under the hood for like 5 seconds... just need a flathead screwdriver... it seems to be the quickest way for me... others might have better suggestions...
from my experience with obd2, when the check engine light comes on... it stays on until the ecu is reset... if your CEL has been on... then theres no way of knowing whether youre throwing more than one code or not... you might be throwing more codes now... you should check that out or just try to reset the ecu and see if it still has that problem... it doesnt harm anything because if the problem still exists the light will just kick on again... if it doesnt, then it stays out...
