vtec wont engage if there is a problem with the fuel delivery system. so i say you find out what code you are throwing, fix it, and if everything else is working, you will have vtec

ok i got the "receipts" from autozone and my code is p0453 and it says that the pcm has determined that the voltqage signal from the pressure sensor in the evaporative emission control system is to high for the current engine operating conditions. (please let me know how to fix) and the other code is p1382 and it also states that the cylinder position sensor has no signal. (please let me know how to fix this also). any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Re: (batallic)
how long has the lights been on.
the cps is in the dizzy. so i would first check to make sure that every wire on both sides of the dizzy clip are in there good. ( and hope you dont need a new one)
the other one, with some searching i found this
" ive heard of people getting that code when they fill there car up all the way to the top of the filler neck"
and if thats not a possibility ( if you havent filled up recently) check the vacuum lines, around emissions equipment. charcoal canister, evap...

that code he is giving is for an OBD2. I don't know if the light flashes for OBD 2. I think you just need to get the code read and he did.
"P0453 Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) Sensor Circuit High Voltage"
That's your problem. =P Check grounds and connectivity.

This symptom may indicate a problem with the ECU (=code 0).

Another possibility is that there is an electrical short in one of the wires for the service check connector or the 7.5A BACKUP fuse under the hood.
A bad ECU is difficult to prove. Most mechanics try rule out every other possibility before replacing the ECU. Code 0 is a hint that the ECU may be bad.

You should check the charcoal canister and make sure that all the lines coming from it are connected at the other ends securely and don't look broken cracked bound up or plugged off. Make sure that all the sensors that they go to are plugged in also. If all this stuff looks good, you should replace the gas cap, it's probably not ventilating the gas tank properly.
