Default VTEC ?

On a stock 93 Civic Si at what rpm does vtec kick in?

^ hehehe. If I'm not mistaken man I believe most stock hondas are 5450/5500... Hope that helps, and somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

it engages anywhere roughly from 4200 to 4700

I think it comes on ar about 4500 but who knows! You can't really feel it with a single slammer...

which sucks monkey ********* because you only get to use it for a measily 1000rpms before red line but hey, it's still VTEC

if vtec engages at 5200 for the Z6, 2000 rpm's more baby

4800 It says in the 94 manual. Well it also depends on engine load, coolant temperature and if the ECU thinks it should depending on those things.

My Y8 engages at 5200...someone's tach could just be off in the high rpms....but I'm almost positive sohc vtec happens shortly after 5k....5800 is wayy too high, your tach is probably just off.

This reminds me of a post a while ago where someone said, "if you want to hear VTEC with a SOHC, wait till about 5000 rpms, stick your head out the window, and yell 'mmmmmbbbwwaaaaaa' as loud as you can!"...

No, but really, I have a d16z6 and I can kinda hear it if I listen really well, but it's not nearly as pronounced as with a DOHC.
