Default very important tech question moderators anyone plz help

ok im driving around today and i notice my turbo timer like reset or something went wrong with it im like damnit oh well and i kept driving then like 10miles later..... the check engine light comes on and i have no speedo this happened right after i hit a pretty steep bump so i get out and check everything and its all ok.. oils fine ect... so i figure i blew a fuse or something electrical so i drive on.... my buddys following me and like 10miles on the way home im trying to calm down so im like ok ill listen to the radio and it cuts in and out turning off ect... so i try to ignore it untill i can make it home like 3-4miles to go about 1 mile later the car gets pretty dim...dimmer the a/f gauge still works and its running more rich than normal and then its like a chain reaction windows wont rollup i put on my blinker to turn and the rpms are moving with it... then i notice the a/f gauge start to go from rich to stoich and start to go to lean... **** the fmu i cut the car off fast then i coast i have like 1.5 mile left to my house and i think to turn the lights off and jump it from a coast it works a/f ratio is rich again so i drive down my road in the dark get home and the car is dead (wont start) so im telling this story to my freind and he said he had a bad alternator and the same type of thing happened to him... so my question is can a battery cause the speedo and the check engine light to come on? and is it the alternator or the battery that is bad... i left the car for about a min went back and it started... im very puzzled i need a quick response i have work in the morning and i need to know what the prob is so i can take it in ASAP... this happen to anyone or does anyone know what i should do?

Yes, but before you do this save yourself some money and go to autozone, they will check both of these things for FREE.

you shouldn't run a small battery if you have any extra electical things at all. radio/guages/extra lights.

Sounds like an alt. to me too. Just go get a new one and replace it.

I almost bought a new altenator because AutoZone said I needed a new one. I had dirty electrical connections and that's it. Don't trust AutoZone - they only know what the machine tells them.

ok heres the scoop i took it to my mechanic (hes a honda tech) we went over the car he tested the alt.. it wasnt putting out so he was checking on a price when i mentioned the speedo going out he put a new batt in it and narrowed it down to a simple blown fuse... i couldnt believe it.... but thats it the mystery is over ....a damn FUSE!
