valves coming out of adjustment
hey guys, i have a 2000si with ctr intake cams, and gsr exhaust cam. I am using stock valve springs and itr IM and TB.
There is a slight valve tick that seems to get worst as I drive. The thing is, I've already re-adjusted them 3 times in the past 3 months. I recently readjusted them 3 days ago, then today I can hear them again. It is very slight, you won't hear it over music or a loud exhaust, but when your car is at 3k+rpm and in vaccum, you can def. hear it.
when i recently adjusted them, it seemed like the intake side was good, but the exhaust side needed some adjustment. i was wondering if getting new valvesprings would help? Someone local is selling itr springs and retainers for 110.
is this noise normal for hondas? I know that hondas always have a slight valve tick, but this noise is definitely noticable. I also know that type-r engines are noisier because of the higher lift cams, manifold, header, ect. could this noise be normal with my b16 running bigger cams, TB, and IM?
sorry for the many questions, I've tried searching.

engine heats up, metal heats up and expands.
Metal heats up is the key...so that's why you don't hear it later on because with the metal warm/hot it will makeup the extra clearance as when the engine is cold

could be your an LMA or 2 or 3 or 4. You should have valve tick, it should not be quiet. The amount of noise and consistancy is hard to tell over typing

I'm willing to bet he's right, from what I remember you might need to wait overnight for the engine to cool. after it's been off for 12 hours or so try adjusting it. From what I remember most all hondas have a tick noise. just putting in my 2 cents

I know you're I am supposed to have valve tick, since i have cams and all, but how much is too much? you can def. hear it while driving tho. but it's not a definitive TICK TICK TICK... most of the time im the only one that hears it, unless i tell my friend to listen to the noise.
