Hi all,

I am trying to purchase a red valve cover for my bf. He's driving a 1999 civic SiR and the valve cover I found is from passwordjdm.com:

Honda OEM Type R Valve Cover (B-Series)
Part Number: 12310-P73-A00

This is what it says in the description:

Brand New Honda OEM Integra Type R Valve Cover. Fits VTEC model B-Series engines only. Please note this product you are purchasing is the same valve cover as the US Integra Type R, the pictured valve cover may not be the same as the one that you will receive, it is for reference only.

Now, does this part work for his car or not? I obviously don't have a clue about engines and such and want to make sure this part fits his engine.

That is the one I looked at thanks! So what is the difference - if any (jdm vs us type r)? What is better, or I guess what would you prefer and why?

The are 3 differences between US and JDM. First, the US valvecover has "DOHC" in big letters and "VTEC" in small letters, where as the JDM one is opposite.

Also, the US one says "Honda Motor Co." on it, where as the JDM one just says "Honda".

And finally, The JDM one has the Honda "H" logo on it, where as the USDM one does not.

I think the majority of people cant even tell the difference between the US or JDM covers, to be honest. Does your boyfriend prefer JDM stuff or NorthAmerican stuff?

Keep in mind that JDM stuff is pretty much everywhere these days, where as a USDM valvecover is a lot more rare because they were only available on a limited number of cars here in northamerica. There is ALOT of JDM stuff being brought over these days though.

Google the two different covers and you'll see the differences are not that drastic. Size wise, and functionality wise they are identical. Like I said, the only difference is the writing on them.

I highly suggest you consider ordering in Canada though, through whoever you decide to order from. The valvecover may be cheaper on some US sites, but you have to remember about shipping, border fees, and all that other crap.

It sucks, but we Canadians always get our asses handed to us when it comes to shipping!

Personally, for the small differences, i'd say go with the cheaper JDM one.

Yeah that's true. Some places only ship to the 48 states.

On the other hand, you get to live in Hawai'i.
