valve clearance check
how do you check and adjust the valve to piston clearance on a D16Z6. Im installing a thinner head gasket and i need to know how to adjust the valves.
thanx for any help. if any1 has a write-up on how to do this, or if someone could explain this to me in great detail that would be great

Re: valve clearance check (petty$rep)
How much thinner of a head gasket?
If it's just a thinner headgasket w/o milling the head or block you should be fine. I don't think it's that close to begin with.
But you check by looking it up.

You can't "adjust" valve to piston clearance, and to check it you'd need to clay the motor. Honestly though, with just a thinner head gasket, you won't have any issues unless you are running very excessively advanced or retarded cam timing.

Re: valve clearance check (Padawan)
thanks guys.
so i should be fine by just putting in a thinner head gasket. the motor is a D16Z6 with stock compression (9.2:1); i just want a little more compression to help make a difference for when i install my new cam. since it is a SOHC i should not even have to worry very much about retarding or advancing the cam.
