Default Valve Adjusting Screws????

I'm going to have to replace my headgasket. Everything I need to do I understand thoroughly and doesn't really seem that hard to do. The only thing I am actually worried about is the fact that you have to loosen all the valve adjusting screws. I am keeping the stock B16 cams in it so all I need to know is the proper way to reset the valve spring screws so I don't F anything up. I appreciate the input ahead of time.

It's a simple valve adjustment. Get yourself a set of feeler gauges and refer to your fsm or haynes manual for the proper specifications.

I got a Honda Manual. Valve Adjustment just makes me go . I've been working on Hondas for awhile now, but I insist on completely understanding what I'm doing before I start something, and being 100% sure that I'm doing it 100% correct. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my car (both a blessing and a curse lol).

Does that emoticon mean you are scared? No reason to be. A valve adjustment means you are adjusting the clearance between where the force is applied from the camshaft to the valve. Basically if it is too far away (large clearance) then the camshaft smacks the valve to hard causing vibrations, and also the valve never actually opens all the way, since there is all that extra distance that had to be covered before the camshaft reaches its largest diameter. If it is too close (small clearance) then the camshaft is always applying force to the valve. (even if there is a small space when the engine is cold, by the time it warms up there will be negative space, ie displacement).

I find it hard to believe that you are not at all worried about replacing your headgasket and a valve adjustment has you worried. If you are a perfectionist then you will have not trouble following the instructions in the fsm.

Sounds good. Yeah I'm completely confident in the whole process of removal and instillation. I'm getting a set of feeler gauges today, and gonna do some more reading.

I got this feeler gauges for valve adjustment. I am planning to do it myself also. Do i need to replace the valve cover gasket, or do i need to use sealent before i put the valve cover back on ?

It always recommended to replace the valve cover gasket. Use a small amount of sealant to hold it in place when your putting in back on.
