v-tec not working?

v-tec not working?
just bought this 97 civic hatch with a d16y7 block and a d16y8 head and i was just imformed that the v tec didnt work in this motor when it was running.. but it recently shot a rod and the guy before me got all new pistons and rods so im just planing on putting it all back together because i dont have money for a different engine. any ideas on why the v-tec wouldent have been working?

V-tech huh.... make sure it's charing, battery is good, and hmmm. did you try dail 0 for help?

Make sure it's plug and did the previous owner wired it for V-tec, V-tec ECU, etc?

hah my bad. im pretty sure it has the stock dx wiring harness which doesnt have v tec and but my friend knows how to wire it for v tec. got a brand new optima battery for it. i just need to get the motor put together and put it in. maybe i'll get lucky and the v tec will work for me.
