it stands for vtec economy......comes in a 95-95 vx and i think some other models have it but im more familiar myself with the 92 vx lol...........basically its a slow motor, faster than the cx..........u can find the exact specifications if u search

wow people going dash crazy in their spelling of vtec. the vtec-e engine at least from an hx is right under the ex. puts out (factory rating) 116 hp. its not terribly slow. you could go slower with either an lx, dx, or cx so your in the top half of the civic line.

Where did you get your EX tranny?? from?? PM me if you don't mind...I'm looking to reinforcing my stock clutch/fw and my tranny is on the fritz!!

96-00 hx's put out 115 hp factory and I think the new ones are like 117 now. I think his bet bet would be to forget that head and do a mini me or swap the whole thing in favor of an engine that has more potential.

definately. Im not saying the hx engine is the best platform to milk power out of which is why I swapped a b18c. but as far as stock engines go.. it could be worse. The hx downfall as far as preformance upgrades goes is all the wacky emissions and fuel economy crap they put on the motor. The 5 wire o2 sensor, egr, manifold mounted cat, and so on.
