URGENT HELP->d15b8 engine question
My CX has shotty piston rings so I opted to change them this weekend. No big deal, right? Well we go to put the new piston rings that I got from Advance Auto parts (I am dropping an LS in in about two months so dont give me crap ) Well The Rings are not the right size. The pistons appear to be the OEM pistons and are stamped PM3. Is this right? I need help right away. TIA.

pm3 is the correct stamping on that motor.
Advance Auto Parts usually gets my **** wrong 70% of thetime.
Take the old ones up there

Thanks. I rechecked the Part Numbers at Advance and then went online and everything matches up. Im going to go outside to measure how thick they are.

Changing piston rings sounds like a big deal. Correct me if I'm wrong, please, but don't you have to take apart the bottom end and pull the pistons out of the block to change the rings? Just drive a real shitty car for 2 months or get your swap sooner. It seems like alot of work for a b8, especially if it's coming out soon.

Re: URGENT HELP->d15b8 engine question (civicmatt)
It might be hard for you, but it took me about 5 hours total. From start to finish. No more burning oil. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! As for the problem....the rings everyone had listed for a d15b8 were completely wrong! I took the piston up to Parks Auto Parts here and mic'd it and the ones for a DX worked great. Ugh. Stupid Honda
