Default Unusual overheating problem! Have tried multiple things.

Lets start from the beginning two and a half weeks ago my car over heated, it was two heater hoses busted. I replaced those and the thermastat. worked fine for a week, then I started overheating again. So I bleed out the system. There seems to be a lot of air in my system, but should their be that much. I am going to do a compression test on the car tomorrow, but I was wondering if you guys knew of anything else it could be. The car will run fine for two days then overheat, then be fine in 20 minutes. HELP PLEASE!!!!

heat does not work, blows cold air
temp gauge fluctuates.

Thanks

The fact that your not getting any hot air from heater suggest to me that coolant is low or maybe an air bubble in the system. How did you bleed the system when you topped up the coolant?

I did not overheat to the point that the head gasket should be hurt. I got almost to the red and then pulled over when i noticed. The head gasket was replaced about 6 months ago when i re ringed the pistons. I used a hp cometic gasket.

At first I was stupid and forgot to bleed the system after I changed the thermastat, after it ran fine for a week and then overheated I thought about it and let it run with the cap off and then opened the bleeder valve and refilled the coolant until it came from the valve. It seemed I had a lot of air, thats why I thought head gasket, but the whole situation does not make sense.
