Unsure what upgrades to make for 00si
I have a 00si and Im having some problems on deciding what to do to make alittle more power. Right now my clutch went out so I already ordered a stage one excedy with lightweight flywheel. The next thing I want to do is cams. Ive read the entire thread on obx cams and have come to the conclusion that I would rather pay alittle more and get the blox, but I went to talk to a friend today who is a mechanic at a honda dealership and I asked what cams to get cause hes a trustworthy person and he told me to keep the stock ones and then showed me the crower intake cam he purchased that snapped into three pieces. Also I talked to a local import tuner/parts shop and the told me that a lightweight flywheel would be a bad idea. I almost feel like everytime I think about doing something there is someone who knows more than me telling me not to. I dont know alot but some professional advice would help.

I suggest integra/civic type-r cams, a header, intake, and exhaust for now. easy bolt on power. then maybe later, get a GSR block and slap your b16 head on it. you will like the 1.8 liter's torque. look into turbo or building the head if u want even more power.

theres nothing wrong with a lightweight flywheel. what kind of power are you trying to make out of ur car? and how much r u wanting to spend?

You aren't going to start making real power n/a with a b16 unless you start upping the compression. I recommend you save for that. The most bang for the buck is likely to come from building the bottom end.

Best bet would be cams / pistons. If you are going to do pistons though, you might as well swap to the 1.8 bottom end. Don't waste your time with intake / exhaust manifold.

B16 blocks are worthless. Start to build or purchase a (81-8x) x87.2/89mm bottom end with a higher CR and re-use your a2 head with a set of cams and a valetrain.

I forgot to mention that i already have alot of basic bolt ones, intake, exhaust, 68 or 70mm throttle body, comptech headers kinda old school, skunk2 short shifter, nology hotwires, and a grounding kit. Im already surprised at the performance of this car cause I used to drive a 93 si. Im not looking for more than 200hp really just something to make driving alittle for fun. But last night I found a guy down on his luck with alot of b series parts, sir II transmisision, excedy stage 1 and act lw flywheel, and a set of itr cams for 600 BUCKS!!! I have a 89 240 in the middle of a sr20 swap so just looking for something I can do to give it alittle for pep.

If your looking around 200hp. I would go with cams (type R) full exhaust (inlcuding cat) and a good tune* with the mods you have already you should be set. Ive done this b4 on my b16a3 w/stock bottom end/type R cams/Apexi n1 cat-back exhaust/invidia test pipe/whale ***** intake/ skunk 2 TB and IM, on after tuned made 203hp

b18c1 block with p73 itr pistons and rods and type r cams with a tune would give u a nice increase in power and yeah id defineatly go with a fidanza aluminum flywheel ive had good luck with them on naturally aspirated b series revs faster and frees up more hp

Like i said im not really looking to swap out anything major like redoing the block and stuff cause Ive already spent most my money on the sr swap on the s13. Just looking to get alittle more power out of my dd. The same guy that has all the parts im looking at has a gsr head rebuilt with type r parts and a set of arp head studs, the sirII tranny, the clutch and flywheel for 900. I think thats a pretty good deal and the type r head would boost the comp. ratio to something like 10.6/1 maybe a tiny more with a thinner headgasket instead of the 3ply b16 one. What do you guys think Ill be looking at with the mods I currently have with the type r cams and lightweight flywheel. 180-185 or something.

I can get all of that and instead of having im take the cams out i can get the whole itr head plus everything else for 900, he was only charging me 100 for the cams.
dont wanna do a turbo but i no the power i can get from them believe me.

Re: Unsure what upgrades to make for 00si
picked up the parts today, I ended up getting everything for 700. B16 trans excedy st.1 clutch, act prolite flywheel i think its like 9lbs, and itr head. Im sending the head to machine shop tuesday to be ported and polished. I wonder what kind of numbers Ill be looking at, plus im planning on getting it tuned next week or so. I know the b18 block would be much better but this isnt my project car. Looking at all that plus aem intake, comptech header, full exhaust, 70mm throttle body, and msd external coil. Im thinking of getting a set of 310cc injectors thoughts?

I'm going to ask this so bear with me. How do you cobble together all those parts for a build and NOT have an idea on how much power you'll make?

Re: Unsure what upgrades to make for 00si
Im just guessing but with all that I think will reach 160-170whp. But i dont know because ive never done it, plus idk if 310cc injectors are going to be to a good investment and that i should just stay stock or if there is any little things im forgeting that i should have done, its just nice to have input from someone what has possibly done this before. If its a waste and I wont see a nice gain then i will just keep the car the way it is and sell what i have.

If you really were serious about going fast the first thing you'd do is get a serious transmission with a serious final drive and an LSD.
A 4.9 Mfactory final drive will do a ton more your your car than those bolt ons.
Stick with the stock injectors.
IMO, you're wasting your time with a naturally aspirated B16 without tearing down the bottom end and running higher compression.

Reminds me of the saying "throw it against the wall and see what sticks" Before you spend anymore money go spend about 2 hours in the All motor sub forum... read up... you could have allready built a decent b20vtec with 11.5:1 rs pistons some arp rod bolts thrown the b16 head on it and all of your other supporting mods and you would have been better off... for cheaper too...
