Default uhh... car sits higher after jacking it up?

hey guys

I am jacking up each side one by one to put on new wheels (which should be arriving soon). aside from the crackling noises, which i hope is just the ebrake and not the frame. the car seems to be sitting like an inch higher? wtf!

will the springs settle back down? (oem springs) or did something whack happen? i am using the jacking points under the car which look like rectangular tabs pointing down. i wanted to jack up the car via the front. but the jacking point at the front of the car is offset to the drivers side, so i could never get the car even. also, i read in the search that some people have bent their frame jacking it up on this point?

so what im asking is, a) will my car "settle" back down to the original spring rate after i jack it up?

b) is there a way to jack up the front of the car at the same time without worrying about bending something?

thanks

Drive it a little. It'll go back down.

When I jack up the car I use a point under the nose of the car, and when I do the back I use the spot where the tow hook or whatever you want to call it is. That lets me jack up both sides at once if need be. I also put jack stands under the car if Ill be under there or something that may cause the car to rock.

As for your height issure, its just the springs expanding because there isent any load on them anymore they will settle back down after some driving or just push your car down a few times and they should settle back into there home position.

The cracking noise you heard is more then likely the doors moving a bit when the car is flexing or something else moving because of that. Its nothing to worry about.

ok just to make sure, i snapped some pics, for the front, that place really isnt flat, is it still safe to jack it up there? and on the rear, there really isnt a flat area either?

that is where you jack up the front of the car from, and in the rear you can use the rear tow hook

get the car jacked up then set it down on jackstands so you can work under it safely

Definately use jackstands. It is stupid to crawl under the car without them. If you are just changing tires jack it up a little higher. What does it matter if one side is higher?

im going to change oil / rims.

well i just thought it would be easier if the car wasnt lop sided when i jacked it up, but i guess its not that big of a deal since ill just jack it higher than it needs to be, and then lower it onto the jack stands.

when the car sits up like that after jacking it up, you can just drive it for a bit, or do what i do, call my fat neighbor to sit in it on both sides, then your car is lowered
