Default Ugh, '92 Civic VX won't start or crank

Tried to start it up this morning to take it to a shop to fix the other issues on it, but won't even crank at all. It's for the D15Z1 engine. I'm guessing it's the starter, but could the distributor also cause it as well?

Have you ruled out a dead battery?

Battery is fairly new, was replaced back in December so that can't be the issue here.

Though I don't have another car to help jumpstart it so I shouldn't rule that out perhaps.

Correct. Have it tested.

I figured it was the starter since the car has almost 242k miles on it.

That's a reasonable guess, but rule out the battery first.

If it's manual, can you push start the car?

If you run hot wires directly from the battery (+) terminal to the two starter terminals, does the starter now crank?

Checked the battery, jumpstarted it but still no go.

I would push start the car but my driveway is too steep to push it back up in case it doesn't start up.

My guess is the starter itself, so I'm just going to pick up a used one locally for cheap.

A bad starter is only one possibility. Doing more troubleshooting could save you a lot of time and money.

For example, do you have a multimeter?

Is the rubber stopper below (red arrow) missing?

Yes! That's what it was. Same EXACT thing that happened to the brake pedal a couple of months ago. Saw a bunch of broken rubber pieces on the floor and looked under it, and that's what it was!

Dude, you saved me a lot of time and money! Thank you!!!!
