well i found ctr retainers valvesprings and valves w/ 60k miles for around 100 and i can get cams from one of my friends but i dont know how to tell if the ctr stuff is real

Uh, no.
The ITR/B16s/B17 heads are PR3 heads while the GSR head is a P72.
If you're getting the valvetrain for cheap, I guess it is. If not, you mine as well get some aftermarkets that can handle bigger cams.

Unless youre getting a good deal on the parts, it'd be better to just buy aftermarket.

What else will be different? If he swaps out the valve train he just won't have the mild port.

The head itself is not the same is what I'm trying to get at. You're saying as if it was a B16 head where if you'd install Type R valvetrain its the same as an ITR head minus the port. But it isn't. The combustion chamber in GSR head is smaller than the PR3 heads giving more compression. And the PR3 heads "flow better" than a P72 GSR head making a GSR head with ITR valvetrain not equal to a ITR head
