Type R style lip - Install question
Hi,
I bought a Type R style lip from Pann Auto and it didnt fit exactly. They told me I needed to heat the lip up with a heat gun, and that it would stretch to fit. This seems kind of ghetto and im scared of damaging it, or stretching it unevenly.
Has anyone heard of such a caveman style instalation? ...or are they pulling my chain?
Thanx in advance for a response!!

Re: Type R style lip - Install question (Budget Racer)
do you mean the lip doesnt wrap around the bumper right? its too wide? if its an ABS lip then......
that happened to mine, and i just made it fit, drilled a hole through the back in the wheel well on one side, and did the same on the other, then put some of that 3m double sided tape across the front, and bolted that sucker right on. it makes my front bumper stick out about 1/2 inch to the side, i call it a wide-body lip lol, no really, its not even noticable.
this is the best pic i have.

Re: (Budget Racer)
it depends, is your lip ABS or is it urethane? if its urethane you should be able to twist it in a knot almost, if its ABS it should be like semi-hard plastic.

You said:
"do you mean the lip doesnt wrap around the bumper right? its too wide?"
My answer: No it is 1 & 1/2 to 2 inches short.

ohhh its short, do you have en EK or an EG? i think the Eg lps are shorter than the Ek ones if im not wrong, so if you have an EK you might have an EG bumper in your hands

Yes I think its the ABS because it is flexable but still hard. It's black by the way. So would ABS be stretchable without disaster?

what year is your car? and no i wouldnt stretch it, just make sure youre not measuring anything wrong, its better if you have someone help you test fit it on.

I have an EK. I was thinking I had a different one but it did say 2000 civic on the sticker. I tried mating it to the 96 through 98 EK civic but that was short as well. I think I should try mating it to the EG civic to see.
But the question still is: Is it stretchable?

Re: (Budget Racer)
the eg's are about 2 inches shorter then the ek's just bring it back and match it up with another one. Type R lips are hella tight though, get a rear one too, you could probably cop a used one for $50 on c/l
