Type r shift linkage

Is a type r gold shift linkage diffrent from a stock b16a2 shift linkage from a 00 civic si. I have both and i was wondering if its worth swaping the two?

i am pretty sure it doesn't do anything different, i have heard people say that it will shorten your throws but that is false

The only differences between those two is just one is gold and the other is black.
