Theres a 99 Type R teggy for sale near my house at an auto body place and i wanted to know what the sure signs are to know if it's real? i just saw the outside so far and it had the type r stickers and five lug white wheels. When i go back and ask to see the engine how can i tell if a B18C5 has been swaped in or not? It's for sale for $14,300 with 63,000 miles on it.

look for the strong bar inside of the hatch compartment, look for the door panels, no sunroof, red stitched seats, and the Neon that comes standard on all 99 models

look at the engine code thats printed on the block. right by the tranny it will say "B18C5"

Sure fire sign, ITR's did not have side moldings, or holes in any panels for them.

Also, check the VIN number at an acura dealership, that will prove it 100%.

get the VIN and run it on Carfax, this will tell you not only the model but the full history.

just to let you know, '99 ITR were only canadian only thing. so be carefull.

I don't think they had 99 ITRs in America, but I THINK Canada. Only 97-98 and 00-01. Anyways, I don't think they had a sunroof either.

Look at the rear sway bar. Only ITR's run the 22mm with the factory flush mounting. All other models have a different setup.

Check the VIN number everywhere (especially the firewall). Should begin with JH4DC231 if it's a real Type R. Anything other than 231 =
