if its all factory the manual recomends 5W-30 ( it should also say this on the factory oil fill cap located on the valve cover). I would recommend mobil1 if you have a lot of money to spend, but just about any oil will do. I would not however recommend a fram filter. I have heard bad things about them. Really, filters all do the same thing too, so unless you have some crazy race car, just use whatever you like.

i see we have another member for the "fram filters suck" bandwagon.
ive never had a problem with their filters. and i dont think anyone with under 800hp has had a problem either.
depending on where you live, i'd recommend 5w-30 or 10w-30.

Honda filters are made my Honeywell which is FRAM. Never seen or heard of a Honda filter fail from normal use.

No, that means you are burning oil and running a quart and a half low with that problem just makes it worse. You can run 10-30 but i'd check my oil once in a while if I were you if you care about your car.

Yeah...5W-30 is what you're suppose to use...and I've never had any problems with my Fram filters. I use Castrol High Milage on my sohc.

We stopped getting Filtech 2 years after they switched to the smaller filters. Unless some dealers PDC still stock the other brand, all from Troy's plant still use Honeywell.

I highly doubt it was a issue with the filter. The NSX takes a different filter like the Legend and people all the time install the incorrect one and doesn't catch all the threads and pops off. Also like said before, Honda uses Fram filters and if they had problems you would hear about it.

Same here. I don't know where people get the idea that fram sucks from. Since I got my hatch i've been using honda filters, but before that on all my other cars (various makes) I used fram and never had a single problem. Thats on 6 cars and I put a lot of miles on my cars, hence i go through filters often. Lots of people i know still use fram and its never been an issue.

Re: type of oil to use in a 00 si (ek gripper)
only problem ive ever had with fram oil filters is that 1 time, the gasket didnt seal right and it leaked. other than that, the fram oil filter bullshit, is just that, bullshit.
as previously stated, 5 or 10 w 30 ive always used castrol, but IMO doesnt matter.

Honda filters are made all over the world, only the crappy ones are made by FRAM. Anybody that knows anything about honda oil filters gets the ones made elsewhere, if you don't believe me go read the s2k forums.

That bandwagon would be the "intelligent" bandwagon. What you've seen or havn't seen is pretty useless compared to the truth that FRAM sucks.

I still don't understand what sucks about them. How the hell can you tell the difference between them, aside from if they leak or something.

Your post is pretty useless with no facts other than a pretty pathetic comparison of filters and opinions of S2k owners which use a different style filter anyway. We could go back and forth with which filter sucks and which doesn't but if you change your oil and filter every 3 months or 3k miles you won't have a issue with any brand of filter.
