twin turbo civic wtf?
hey guys check this out is this a misprint? How the f*ck do you have a twin turbo civic...i didnt think that was possible actually i know thats not possible...so what is the deal? here is a link and a quote below it.
http://www.m-emag.com/reviews/review...wID=154&page=2
"Estevez's talent however, has been devising unique insights into tuning cars: in 2001, the revised DRT Civic hit the competitive 9-second zone with a surprising twin-turbo setup. "I saw the original setup on the SPI CRX, but they couldn't get it to work," he recounts. "I tried the double configuration only half seriously, but made adjustments and made it work. We made power the first time we put it together." The twin turbo four-cylinder setup is good for a stout 640 HP at the wheels and has powered the DRT Civic to a best ever 9.49-second run at a recent NHRA Sport Compact event in Gainesville, Florida."
tell me what you think

you can see both turbos in the gill opening. One is smaller for quicker spool and the other is bigger for better top end power. Looks sick!

Re: twin turbo civic wtf? (deftones0817)
You could have a quad turbo civic (or any car for that matter) if there was enough room in the engine bay. The reason you don't see that many twin turbo small displacement engines is becuase it is not efficient. If you had a 5+ liter v8, it would be inefficient not to have twin turbos (or so I have read). Physics is some crazy stuff man.

I totally agree with you.
I just posted that to make my point that anything TT is possible with a deep enough pocket.
I mean if you wanted a TT Jetta, why not just buy a TT s4. After all it is the same car.

Re: twin turbo civic wtf? (Hyjnx)
The S4 has an actual V6, one turbo on each side of the engine. The VW VR6 engines are more like inline engines than V6's. It has 6 cylinders but only one cylinder head. As you can see by the headgasket in the pics of the VR6 twin turbo systems, the cylinders are staggered at a narrow angle, 28 degrees I believe. This makes for an engine that's only as long as a typical I-4 engine, and not as wide as a typical V6. It also has a single exhaust manifold like an inline engine.
