turbo or swap??
I have a 95 del Sol Si with a d16z6 with minor bolt ons. I was curious whether I should continue building it up and turbo it..... or swap for a b16. I dont have gobs of money or some place to let my car sit for a month waiting for a motor. Its a toss up for me but I need a little push in the right direction. thanks

Re: turbo or swap??
If you don't have a place to let your car sit. Maybe the best thing for you is Turbo. Since it's just about 1 day of a weekend to install it. D16Z6 are good for turboing also. But my advise for you is to Swap to a B16A then turbo it.

Re: turbo or swap??
I'm pretty sure you already asked this question in another thread. Turbo the D16Z6. You will make alot more HP than a B16 for the price of a B16.

it depends. fya dont have the dough, you'd probably get a crappy turbo set up anyway with your stock motor. probably ones that has mostly parts from f&*ng china. so if you could get an old (but good) b16a eg from the junkyard, with little imminent rebuilding work, i'd suggest you go for the swap.

Re: turbo or swap??
ls FTW. Cheap easy to swap, easy to find, loves boost, can do VTEC head swap, one weekend to swap it over, no wiring issues, nice torque. (Just swapped mine in with a rebuild and love it).

Re: turbo or swap??
well I'm not looking for monstrous power. I decided between these two choices because 1. the z6 I already have.... and 2. the b16 I hear is a very easy swap over. the only engine swap I've done before was a mustang GT but we were swapping it with the same motor. How easy is the ls swap? What all would I need to turbo the z6? ugh, i'm just so confused

Re: turbo or swap??
I found some nice complete change over motors for pretty cheap on hmotorsonline.
for example--B16A including everything for $2250. B18B for $2000. etc.....

Re: turbo or swap??
You could find a local B18B1 for cheaper. There is a big difference in feel from the Z6 and the B1. I hear the B16 feels like a Z6 until VTEC. I like the pull personally.
You should be able to find a local swap for 800-1200, at least that's what people in WA are sellin' them for. Also the ls swap is just as easy, if not easier because you don't have to run extra lines for the VTEC.

Re: turbo or swap??
thats what I'm kinda leanin towards. I dont know much about internals and it would be a great way to learn as opposed to buying a perfectly good b16 apart and possibly breaking something because idk what I'm doing. I'm going to try to learn a lil more and replace the stuff in my motor I can easily get to. It's my daily driver and I cant have it sitting for long periods of time. Then I will buy everything I need to do the turbo setup and do everything at once, maybe having to buy a junk car as a driver in the meantime.

Re: turbo or swap??
Since you have a Sol, you could try and find a Sol with a B16A3 is what I believe was in them. Straight forward swap and easy to work with as well.
As for the Z6, are you planning on rebuilding it for boost? Do you have a blueprint for what you want as far as HP and the things you'll need?
