yep from what i know only a dyno...are you pieceing a turbo together or r you buying a bolt on kit? i'd suggest since you live in TN not CA like me haha put together one. I'd go with a t3/t4 turbo, that way you'll have more options.

Re: (vtec99ej)
I think you are being a little overexuberant in thinking your catback and intake are netting you 30hp. I would say 15 tops. Anyway, I think that 8-10 psi is about the max you will want to push through your stock block. With no upgrades to your bottom end you wont want to go over 200-225 hp. Just make sure you have a reputable shop tune your car. Dont do what I did and have a "friend" street tune it for you. Was on the way to get a proper dyno tune when I threw a rod. I was in boost for literally 5 seconds. (1st time it saw boost) DO YOUR RESEARCH. It will end up saving you a lot of $$$ in the end.

how much money do u have? its almost better to buy a kit off of hondamarketplace than ebay. i had a couple friends buy kits off ebay and the turbo like ate itself. it was weird as ****. they claimed it was a "garrett" t3/t4 turbo but it wasnt. there is a guy bisimoto that runs 11's and 12's on all motor d series. he got a 10.77 on all motor d15.

dood, if you're in college, and money is tight, i'd say wait off on playing with honda's right now. If your looking at pos ebay kits, and gonna half *** this just don't. save your money and keep Etuning the scene until you know what your doing.

Re: Turbo SOHC (vtec99ej)
Hey man im doing the same thing turboing my d16y8 wit stock internals and turbo from ebay. Well ive asked around and seen that you should do 5-6 psi but the key to it working is a good tune wit a good tune ive heard up to 8 psi. And you just cant go with a FMU like i was going to it will ruin you mpg and likely blow it up quicker. SO TUNE. but well let my know how yours go the only thing stopping me to doing mine is im broke

you dont messure what a block can withstand in PSI, if he ever gets logged into turbod16 he will see that it depends on hp. The stock block is good for under 240whp..id keep it around 225 .
btw, turbo's put out different psi at different power ranges. so before you argue, you cant say a block can take __ psi.

Re: (marble hatch)
Ebay kits are fine if you spend more then $1300
It's an alright Idea to buy an ebay kit, if you get it tuned and you're prepared to replace a lot of the parts. The turbo, manifold, intercooler, among other parts will all die in short order.

EXACTLY. You can run 34i93437473^099049493psi if your whp doesn't exceed the amount that the block can handle. A good rule of thumb for a d16y8 is 225whp or so.
