i belive you do, either that or check valves . . . to get rid of the CEL . . . . im not really sure how that goes with a piggy back system, i use AFC at the moment. good luck with your boost project =]

If you run hondata....NO

but why? convert to OBD1 and use Uberdata
also check out HMT, everyone loves that site

AFC - no missing link or check valves
Hondata - no missing link or check valves
uberdata/chrome/etc - no missing link or check valves

Nope.

Hondata, Uber, Crome, TurboEdit, Emange, ect are all actual programs designed so you can tune and run the car in a FI state.

I thought with the AFC you did have to run check valves so the stock program on the ECU didn't see boost.

Isn't the AFC hack just using check valves and a FMU? I duno, I did mine right by using Uberdata.

The stock ecu in an obd2a motor can see up to 7.4psi without throwing a code and going into limp mode.

No way! I didn't think any of Honda's stock ECUs could see boost without going crazy.

I know the stock MAP sensor works up to about 10 or 11psi, after that you have to step up to a 2 or 3bar MAP.

I didn't think the ECUs were tuned to see boost at all.

maybe i should have clarified better, I was referring to the MAP sensor.

opps sorry i read wrong.

Stock MAP sensors can run up to 14.7 before throwing a code (1 bar). I thought you said with AFC. With AFC you need a missing link. With any kind of chip you dont.

Again sorry i read wrong.

Edit: 11.2psi not 14.7

You do not need a missing link or check valves with tyhe AFC if you use the Hack. My first turbo setup was the AFC Hack and 450cc injectors which will let you run around 10-12 psi (I cannot confirm past 10 but I have seen other afc hack users post more than 10 psi on the stock MAP). I was at 10 no problems

Did you use the hack that runs you lean as hell? -35 or -45 all across? Take it to a dyno and see what its doing to your car. That hack is not good at all.

Heres my dyno sheet with that (Red is without a missing link running the VAFC hack thats on H-T, Blue is when i first went to the dyno, before i was turboed, stock motor, and green is what i left with missing link and good tune.)

I am not arguing that it is a GOOD fuel management tool. I simply stated that you dont need a missing link or check valves to run it

So if you run hondata s100 with boost option you dont have to run a missing link or upgraded map sensor?

missing links are cheap just get one to be safe. That or get hondata or a chipped ecu or run the emanage.
