Default Turbo the Girlfriends 1994 EX, Too risky? Needs to be full proof@5 psi.

Hey,
I know everyone hates these threads but i am trying to decide wether or not this will work out the way i hope it will. She has a 1994 EX with 94 on the clock. I believe the main seal is leaking so i have all necessary gaskets to repair that and the clutch before the turbo project starts.
I have:
DSM 450's or the stock injectors because of low boost and rich probelms.
HF manifold- Will the girl still have the A/C or no way?
DSM T25--20k on it
DSM BOV
Misc Piping
p28 with boost program (don't know which yet give opinion please)
resistor box
boost gauge
Manual Boost Controller
Vacuum lines
Throttle body to turbo-turbo to somewhere coolant lines.
Oil line send and return kit
Maybe oil cooler but not necessary
DSM sidemount IC
I prolly forgot a major item but its late. So does anybody think this will be cool for everyday use about 20 miles, and some highway use. She wants boost but not high levels. She knows about cars and turbos and how they work and so on. She needs assurance that her car won't Melt don under low boost. She won't believe me. SOmebody assure her with your experience that it will be fine around 5 to 6 PSI. Thanks guys any opinions will be greatly appreciated. No need to say search this search that. I am just looking for some personal experience and what to look out for when building a reliable low boost turbo project for your girlfriend.

well, iv'e got a 98 y8 motor running at 8.5 psi for 8 months now with no probs...

my setup is like this...

rc 310's
t28 turbo
10.1 fmu
255 intank
front mount
bov
boost and oil pres gauges
pretty much that's it......( no dyno time or tuning yet, but running a 1/4 of 15.1 @ 101 w / a 60ft of 3.2)

no probs what so ever.
i do change my oil every 1500 miles and check all the other stuff though!

hope that helps a little............... 5 psi is low boost, but still fun!

You have some real quality in your posts. Why don't you post in GDD or A/C if you're going to do that in all of your replies.

I have a friend with a b16 with 180,000 miles on the motor running 12psi 276whp and has not had one single problem. Been running like that for about a year now.

a/c will be tricky, it's possible, i think you have to get a different fan and mount it on the other side of the condensor.

ask this stuff on homemadeturbo.com

My Greddy Turbo'd Civic 5.5psi on my D16Y8 '96 EX. Turbo'd for 6 months! Ran great and perfect.

Blew the head gasket and head started to lift last week. Fixed it this week.... with new ARP head studs and new OEM head gasket! Car ran great tonight! Tonight was teh first night i got to drive it.

Lifting head is a VERY COMMON problem on boosted D16's... so fix it with ARP studs!

tuned with a rom editor, 5psi IS fool proof and it will drive for a long time. The only problem that i can forsee is the need for more boost. haha...

My girlfriends 93 si is boosted I built it for her the setup is D16Z6 completely stock inside and out except a RPS clutch

CX manifold w/ wastegate flange
adapter plate
mitsu 14B
Deltagate wastegate w/ ground dump
2 1/2 down 3 back from oil pan
2 1/4 IC piping
DRAG 2 fmic
Blitz SS bov
12:1 FMU
Walboro 255 intank pump
Snapsye missing link
NGK R BKR7E 2 steps colder
2 Degrees timing retard
93 Octane premium

She had beat the crap out of it everyday for over a year now at 9 psi and is at 199,875 miles with no major problems and its her only car though she did loose the A/C completely

I say go for it I love hearing about my girl smoking people its so funny

Also it ran a 14.1 at 96 last year with her driving with crap tires, camber, and 2 1/4 exhaust and thats full interior including spare and jack

I've been running between 8 and 10 pounds on a stock internally motor for over 2 years with no problems that were caused by the turbo.

I see B16's running 1 bar boost ~ 1,2 overboost almost everyday, and I've never heard any complaints about the turbo. But they've all lowered compression a tad and they all have good sized intercoolers.

5 psi is nothing, she'll be fine

jayspec-- i wanna put my bi16 motor and tranny into a civic coupe and boost it. I like the Teg but it feels old and creaky and i have had one early 90's car after the other i need something mid 90's. I've had 1991 240sx, 1990 Eclipse GSX, now the 1991 Teg. Whoever wants the shell is more than welcome to come buy it ill pull the motor and be happy.

Make sure to use the dsm 450's. also you dnt need a MBC. with that turbo she will be sitting at 7psi off of the stock gate. Also use a uberdata program. And as far as keeping ac... Not happening.

as long as the car hasnt been abused the turbo seems like wont cause any damage, plus you cant go wrong with all these testimonials. if the turbo was her idea thats pretty sweet.

it is possible to keep your a/c and turbo the car. all depends on your research and what parts you buy that will determine whether or not you can keep it. i've seen quite a few cars come out of fast-turbo that still have it. it can be done.

yeah, to keep the a/c you gotta buy a specific a/c manny and downpipe. That can run you about 500. BMC racing, or Spoolinperformance
