H22A. Why go from a 2.0 liter engine, that you could have turbocharged, to a turbocharged 1.6 liter? At the very least go with a B18C1 and turbo that, rather than a B16A.

h22's are huge in EGs...u need to get axles and stiffen like the whole car from so much weight transfer....but there's a legit power block to start from for sure....

b series aftermarket support > h series aftermarket support

main reason.. there are plenty more

only idiots argue with reasonable logic and general practicality.

and what's reasonable logic? Yeah b's are more readily available, but the amount of beating you can put on an h would kill a b. Not too mention the reinforments that you would have to make on the b just to get above 16lbs. Dont get me wrong, the b is a steardy little work horse, but the h is a beast. The only reason most ppl say b is because of how easy it is to swap and the parts list true.

Sorry guys dont want to bring this topic back up again!

Op do what you think you can handle. What are your goals for this build since no one really cared to ask?

the b series was engineered to be a more happily high-revving performance minded engine. the very characteristics of a shorter rod/stroke ratio imply directly as such.. or the mains of the bottom end, let alone the fact that most models have a main girdle... then we we will talk about flow characteristics and later we'll get into actual combustion chamber design. srsly?

and your 'reinforcements?' if you are referring to block design, not all h motors are closed deck.

but to each their own.. like you said we don't need another win v fail thread.

ok cool...again the b is a work horse i admit that! ok a rod/stroke of what 1.59:1 on the h..compared to 1.74:1 on a b16. the word is destroking from 2.2 to 2.0. Yeah it will lose the torque but it will rev with the best of them but revving past 9g is dumb. And yes, the stock crank is iffy, i twisted two by the way, due to pounding it like 6 days in a row.

http://www.jspecautosports.com/files...chcenter1e.htm

im not understanding what you mean just because it has a main girdle! so h's dont have girdles is what you are saying? I hope not. please pm me with your imputs on flow characteristics and CC design. so which b head is better in your opinion? pm me

I like H22's in Civics, but for your goals the B is going to be cheaper and probably much easier to deal with IMO.

That's an awful lot of power for a DD. How do you plan on having any traction? I'm not trying to be a jerk, it's a legitimate question.

For that much power, I would think the H would be a better choice.

the h series is sooo expensive to do aftermarket turbo builds on. the block is composite and its hard to find the right pistons/rods to get the compression you want. most people who do and H end up having to special order one off parts or having custom stuff made. b series is cheaper and much easier to get into. I honestly have never seen an H out-perform a B when comprably built.

H22a turbo makes more hp than a b16a turbo. I know some with a stock h22a with a ebay turbo kit that pushed 360hp easily, now his motor is blown because he wanted 500hp on a stock h22a.
