Tune up woes

Tune up woes
Hello All,
First, thanks for taking the time to read my question and for any help you can provide.
I purchased a 97 Civic LX with 186K miles. The previous owner said a tune would likely be needed so I got the rotor, distributor, wires and plugs and did the tune up. Prior to the tune up the car was running fine. When I pulled the old plugs the electrodes had noticeable wear to the point that the gap was now off. I checked the gap on the new plugs and all needed to be adjusted. (.44) When I finished it fired right up with no troubles and ran smooth. I let it idle for about five minutes and when everything stayed fine I buttoned everything up. About 4 hours later I headed out and got about 15 miles or so and it shut down in traffic. I coasted to the shoulder and popped the hood. The number two plug wire was off the distributor. I thought maybe I didn't seat it well so I reattached it but the car would not restart. I have reseated all the wires and pulled the plugs to check them. They look fine. No damage or fouling. They look like they did when I put them in. I double checked the gap on all as well. I am at a loss so if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.

Re: Tune up woes
Running with a wire disconnected can blow the coil then you'll have no spark and no run.
Get some better wires that don't fall off. There are a lot of really lousy wire sets out there.
