Default Update!!!!

Alright.. just got my tanabe exhaust a couple of days ago.. and I'm trying to install it on my 1999 civic lx.

The spring bolt plus nut that is holding the header to downpipe is giving me some problems.. All I need to remove are these last 2 spring bolt and its not moving. I tried spraying wd-40 and rust remover on the bolts.. and still nothing. This is the 2nd day I've tried..

::Update::

I got the bolt off!! I got a mini hacksaw and it got the job done.

So time for some pics...

Fresh from the box, Tanabe SMH Super Medalion Hyper Exhaust.

These were the bolts it had trouble with... hacksaw destroyed them..

Old down pipe removed..

New

The only problem is the exhaust is hugging the right side of my car.. Hopefully that'll be okay.

I haven't driven it yet, but I started the car up with some revs. It sounds pretty much stock at idle, but pretty loud with revs. Can't wait to take it out later tonight. Thanks everyone for helping.

if u have to snap em o well. go buy a new bolt and washer from ur parts store n problem solved. Just be sure you dont over tighten the springs. They need to have room to move and not bind.

Is it the bolts at the cat or the axel back?

use regular wrench, then slide the wrench into some pipe so you have good leverage, it will snap easy
no pipe, ask somebody stronger to help you out, or push the wrench with your leg, that helped me lots of times, just be careful, so the car wont fall on you

A cut-off wheel on a grinder or use a huge breaker bar or impact gun

You sure one of the stock body heat shields isn't causing the muffler to stay cocked to the right like that? look everything over and make sure nothing is rubbing, Its going to melt your bumper plus it looks like crap that way.

yeah I already checked. its the hangers that hold the muffler piece. The right hanger is angled to far to the right.

The exhaust is only touching the corner of my bumper, and its in the inside corner, so I don't think it will that bad.

The exhaust sounds great btw, you can barely hear it idling and wot, compared to my last exhaust. I love it.

with the tip touching any part of the bumper, it'll be bad.. your bumper will melt.
trust me, i've experienced it and it wouldn't look good either.
