and at around 3000pm in certain gears i hear like a whirring noise...?
any input would be awesome

Go to the local auto parts store and buy a service manual for your car. There you will find instructions on how to change your tranny fluid. A service manual is good to have around anyway if you plan on doing a lot of wrenchin on your car.

Re: (otakueric)
look it's easy as hell, might wanna jack up car first it'll make it easier. First there are 2 plugs on the side of the tranny, the upper one you remove it to let air in so the fluid will drain faster out of the bottom plug, (just like you do when you change your oil) remove that plug first then do the bottom one to drain it out. Install a new washer on drain plug, tighten plug, put about 2 quarts honda mtf or gm/pennzoil synchromesh in through the top hole and tighten plug, lower car, drive away and be happy.

I put syncromesh in mine and 3rd gear started to grind right after the change. I know it was full, this wasn't my first time changing it. I put the honda in it, and now it shifts like new.

signs of a worn out tranny ..as for the reverse problem. go into 2nd, then quickly take it out and jam it in reverse. works for me everytime.
