Default Tranny/axle problems?

I got a question. Is it normal for tranny side of the axle move around inside the tranny up and down (this is hard to explain)? It has like 1/8" of play. Also is it normal for have a play between the intermidiate shaft and axle?

I an not sure but I've done a few tranny/axel jobs and I never experience any play where the axel goes into the tranny before. Not at all, it seems like a really tight fit for me.

i've changed tons of axles and have never encounted that problem before. is it the correct axle? and does it move in and out or just up and down? maybe the collor pin thing thats on the end of the axle is missing or messed up

okay another question (since we are already sure that diff bearings are f ed up).

should the intermidete shaft be parallel to the block when it comes out of the tranny or is it supposed to be under slight angle. Something leads me to believe that wrong shaft (or shaft carrier) messed up the bearings.

Ait I pulled the tranny out, and *didn't notice it before* I stuck my finger into drivers side axle hole and I felt the differential all ripped apart on the inside. Like the spline thing that axle goes thru was moving all around the place (checked the other side it was fine, checked the d series tranny laying around it was fine too).

I know that the tranny is fucked but I think the intermidiate shaft caused this to happen. Before I pulled it out it looked like it was not parralel to the block and it would go into the tranny under slight angle. Can anybody tell me if that's normal before I throw another tranny in there? I'm also thinking that that intermidiate shaft is from 90-93 teg, and that's why it's like that. Can anybody clear this up for me?

thanks

the difference is the outer end. the a1 is female the b1 is male. the tranny side is the same.

They will both fit fine into the trans.

A slant is not normal, it bolts to the bolt and should line up straight.

There should be some kind of play I assume, because it is meant to bend at the ends so a little play seems like it would be normal.

[b]***edit

Don't buy another trans, just get a new differential. I heard some decent things about OBX, haven't had any experience with it yet though.

Which trans is it, I might take it off your hands if you don't wanna do the extra work.

It's an LS it's my friends I'm helping him with fixing his car. so what you are saying that intermidiate shaft is supposed to go little bit crooked inside of it?
I will post a pix of it later on, just to identify it. Does it mean that even if it's a1 intermidiatte shaft it's fine with a b1 tranny.

He will prolly sell the trans just give a reasonable price for it I understand that it's not worth awful alot but it's not free neither.

It defenitly needs a new differential if the IM is slanted and your getting play at the trans side axle end.

I wouldn't pay more than 100 bucks for it, where are you located cause I dunno if I'd want to pay more than 150 with shipping.
